Our Approach

KidsnWhy curriculum follows an eclectic approach and draws best practices from activity based thematic curriculum. It encompasses experiences for learners based on their age and stage of development. The focus is to provide a nurturing and emotionally enriched environment which helps in enhanced learning and holistic development.

Our aim is to provide young children with opportunities to maximize their potential and develop a foundation for future success in learning from birth to three/four years of age. Our approach engages the interests and skills of each individual child, interweaving teachings on a broad range of disciplines through real world learning.

We provide a balance between choice and structured activities, between group and individual pursuits, and between teacher and child-directed experiences. Holistic development through activities facilitating cognitive emotional, social and physical development is our main objective.

A day in the life of Day care Child

Child Care Centers serve as a home away from home where children can play and learn. The prime focus of the Child care programme is to take care of the children when parents are out for work. Thus good health & hygiene practices, adequate rest along with some meaningful learning activities form the back bone of the quality child care.

The Themes

Curriculum themes at KidsnWhy are covered over three to four weeks depending upon the learning objectives and inquisitiveness of children.

The themes are further broken down into various areas of learning:


* Conceptual understanding;
* General Knowledge;
* Literacy and language development;
* Numeracy and mathematical skills;
* Physical development;
* Scientific and logical thinking;
* Personal, social and emotional development;
* Creative development and
* Readiness skills.

The Learning Methodology

Our approach to teaching various subjects in Preschool

Our curriculum focuses on the holistic development through activities facilitating cognitive, emotional, social, creative, language, mathematical and physical development.
It will also offers hands on experience for children along with field trips, special days, culminating activities and learning through exploration.
Each curriculum theme offers a magnificent continuum of lesson plans, activities and worksheets for the teacher to implement in the class.
The curriculum includes:

* Enlisting of the curriculum objectives as per the age group.
* Theme based lesson plans and worksheets.
* Activities will be based on the following:
     1. Concept
     2. physical skill
     3. art and craft
     4. cooking experience
     5. science activities
     6. rhymes and music


The curriculum is divided into 9 themes each planned on the basis of hierarchy, thus moving from simple topics to more complex ones.Each theme is covered over a month which consists of three to four weeks.
The theme is broken down into various areas of learning:

* General Knowledge
* Personal, Physical and emotional development
* Cognitive development
* Mathematical development
* Language development
* Creative development and
* Readiness skills


Thus focusing on the holistic development of the children. Keeping the areas to be covered each week, and the AOL Communication, Language and Literacy at the core, an age appropriate Book is chosen. The choice of book is important as this will guide all the connected activities. There will be only one Book recommended per week and the Balanced Literacy Program will be followed.

The monthly syllabus is broken down into daily plan which covers 3 large group activities and 1 small group activity for nursery level

The daily plan lists down the activities to be covered along with the objectives that the student will achieve. With each activity the main concept being taught is specified All Worksheets that will be needed for the day will be attached Each weekly Plan will have 5 complete and detailed Daily Plans attached, labelled as Day1, Day 2 and so on.

A day in the life of Pre School Child in Kids n Why

Greeting time: Hellos and goodbyes


At KidsnWhy, teacher greets and welcomes the children with a smiling face


A child�s stage of development influences the way or she reacts to hellos and goodbyes. In part because they involve such strong feelings, hellos and goodbyes are opportunities for valuable learning that affects all areas of young children�s development. It offers opportunities to build positive, trusting relationships with children and parents.

15 minutes: Indoor Learning Centres/ Free Play


Children are allowed to make independent choices, are free to explore and use trial and error methods. The role of the teacher is to support or scaffold children's learning and not interrupts or help unnecessarily.

5 minutes: Attendance time


A child sits in a group and takes part in Innovative attendance session (which has been constantly improvised in the curriculum) and participates in sharing important ideas and classroom rules.

10 minutes: Music & Movement/ Exercise


Music is considered the most relaxing, enjoyable and educative experience for young children. This time is dedicated to children being involved in English rhymes, songs, videos, rhythmic movements, exercise and actions.

A child learns to keep his body fit and fine through exercise. At the same time he /she also develops listening and vocabulary skills through rhymes, songs and videos.

15 minutes: Circle Time


During Circle time wide variety of concepts, people, and ideas are introduced. A Child is allowed to express feelings and ideas to a group without judgment. He /she gains confidence and it also helps a child to inculcate the habit of listening, in a way she/he learns valuable skills in positive communication

20 minutes: Snack time


This is an important socializing period with respect to health, hygiene, eating habits and nutrition. The teacher highlights social skills like table manners, sharing, valuing food, prayer, etc.

15 minutes: Activity


Emphasis is given to fine motor skills; a child participates in activity related to development of fine motor and eye hand coordination skills.

10 minutes: Outdoor Play


Child Participates in outdoor games not just for development of gross motor skill but also to develop fine motor, social skills and cognitive skills.

Goodbye & farewell


Children pack their belongings and also sing a goodbye song.
